TITLE:
Bereavement Specialist
REPORTS TO:
Assistant Director of Bereavement |

- Masters Degree Required
The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule,
be willing to travel and have previous Hospice/Bereavement
experience. The candidate should also have:
- Graduate degree in social work, mental health nursing
or other mental health profession from an accredited
academic institution.
- A minimum of two years of supervised work experience
in a healthcare or related setting, preferably in
bereavement/hospice care.
- Prior clinical experience working with geriatric,
oncology or terminally ill populations highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A thorough understanding of the psychological,
emotional, cognitive, medical, social and behavioral
issues related to grief and bereavement as well as
professional training and prior clinical experience
in providing individual, couples, family and group
counseling.
- Experience and competency to perform a psychosocial
assessment and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary
team, develop the bereavement plan of care.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals and
groups
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, be flexible and
prioritize work load and be highly organized.
- Education and competency in working with culturally
sensitive support to people from diverse ethnic,
cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Ability to work well under pressure meeting multiple
and sometimes competing deadlines.
- Demonstrate professional behavior with agency staff.
